Nancy M. “ Sally ” Brown, 83, of Hartburg, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 15, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont following an illness.
Born on April 11, 1931 in San Augustine, to Levie Horton and Elizabeth (Hopson) Horton, she resided in the Hartburg Community for 53 years, and had previously lived in Vidor. She was a member of the Hartburg Baptist Church and a homemaker. Sally was an avid outdoors person. In her early life she enjoyed fishing and hunting, and she also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Utah “ Toy “ Brown; brother, Oran “ Pete “ Neely; sister, Bonnie Skibo and her infant son, Toy Dale Brown.
Those who will honor her memory are her daughter, Nancy “ Sissie “ Brown of Hartburg; sons, Arlon Davis and wife, Sondra of Orange and Victor Brown and wife, Kelly of Deweyville; sister, Georgia Leone of Beaumont; brother, Shirley Horton and wife, Della of Deweyville; grandchildren, Jonathan Davis, Emilee Davis, Jeremie Estillette, Angeliea Williams, Victoria Arpin, Eden Burke, Josh Brown, Hope Brown, Jessica Hatch, Chelsea Hathaway and Dustin Hathaway; 12 great grandchildren, as well as numerous members of her extended family.
Services to remember and honor Sally’s life will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 18, at the Hartburg Baptist Church in Hartburg. Officiating will be the Rev. Fred Rainey. Rite of committal and interment will follow services where she will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Deweyville Cemetery in Deweyville.
A gathering of Sally’s family and friends for a time of reflection will be from 5:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. Thursday at the church.
