Meth arrest in Vidor

On Wednesday, April 30, 2014, around 1:30 p.m., Deputies arrived at a residence in the
1100 block of Central Street in Vidor, Orange County, Texas, to investigate suspicious activity
reported at the residence. After making contact with several subjects at the residence, a white
male identified as 30 year old Derek Ryan Gray of Vidor, was found to be in possession of
methamphetamine and several illegally possessed prescription drugs. Another white male
identified as 29 year old Bobby Timothy Smith Jr. of Vidor, was found to be in possession of
drug paraphernalia, including a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine.
Both Gray and Smith were arrested and transported to the Orange County Jail. Once at the
jail, it was discovered that Gray had more hidden prescription pills on his person. Gray was
charged with 4 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, ranging from 3rd
to Class B Misdemeanors. Smith was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On the morning of May 1, 2014, Judge David Peck arraigned Gray and Smith. Gray’s bond
was set at $10,000 and he remains in custody. Smith’s bond was set at $500 and he has since
posted bond and was released from the Orange County Jail.
