Jennie Lee Rooney, 71, of Hartburg, passed away on Friday, May 16, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

She was born Aug/ 24, 1942 in Summerville, SC., to Wilma (Etling) and Thomas Jefferson Sweat. Jennie had lived in the Orange area since 1976 and was a member of Hartburg Baptist Church. Jennie was a loving and caring person; who took care of patients as a care giver for many years. She had a great talent in the kitchen cooking and decorating wedding cakes, which she did for many family members and friends. Jennie never met a stranger, and enjoyed cooking and feeding the neighborhood. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother in law, Robert Crosby.

Jennie is survived by her husband, Thomas "Tom" Rooney Sr. of Hartburg - they would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on May 19; sons, Tom Rooney Jr. and wife, Barbie of Buna, Michael Patrick Rooney and wife, Jenny Rose of Houston; sisters, Vivian Livernash and husband, Jim of Pinellas Park, FL, Susan Crosby of Summerville, SC, Thomas Jean Dangerfield and husband, Billy of Summerville, SC. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Remington Connell, Alexander Connell, Garrison Connell, Nathan Rooney and Rebecca Rooney.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 20, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Dorman Funeral Home. A funeral service and burial will be held by the family at later date at Parks Funeral Home in Summerville.
