Traffic Fatality in Pinehurst

A 29 year old male died Friday night after overturning his vehicle fleeing from an officer. According to Capt. J.P. Burns of the Orange Police Department the accident occurred around 10 p.m.

A Patrol Officer with the Orange Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Ford F150 on 16th St. at Link Ave for a traffic violation. The driver of the truck initially stopped in the turning lane on 16th St. where the officer made contact with him.

The driver then fled the scene, traveling at a high rate of speed into the City of Pinehurst. The officer lost sight of the vehicle,then located it moments later overturned in the 3000 Blk of W. Park.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Orange by Acadian Ambulance Service where he was later pronounced dead. The accident is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Detective Division of the Orange Police Department.

The name of the deceased has not been released.
