Mason Dean Slone, 3, of Deweyville, son of Joshua and Shayna Slone, went to his heavenly home Saturday, June 14, at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

Mason was born in Beaumont, on May 19, 2011, to parents Lacey Shayna (Strickland) and Joshua Dean Slone. He was a cowboy; riding horses with his family, going fishing, working on the farm, playing with his brother and running after his chickens. Mason was a loving and sweet boy who will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Mason was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Lee Roy Bickham , Kitty Brickham, Vernon Strickland, and his aunt, Mory Dans.

Mason is survived by his parents, Joshua and Shayna Slone; brother, Jaxon Slone; grandparents, Shane and Leilani Strickland, Denise and Jerry Slone; great grandparents, Nita Peveto, Jay and Scharlene Rodrick, Jerry and Johnnie Slone, and Tosca Narducci, all of Deweyville; aunts and uncles, Shaymus Strickland, Josh and Kayla Spell, Jeremiah Spell, Jillian Slone, Jeremy and Sarah Slone, Matthew Tompkins.

Mason is also survived by his cousins, Tucker Slone, Kinley Spell, Amos Spell, Ryder Strickland, Jace Atchley and a very large extended family of people, who he call his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 18, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, at First Baptist Church of Deweyville.

A service to honor his life will be held on Thursday, June 19, at 2:00 pm, at the church, with the Rev. Damon Bickham officiating. A committal service will follow at Deweyville Cemetery in Deweyville.
