Jerry E. Smith, 75, of Orange, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont.

A memorial service at graveside will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10 at the Niblett’s Bluff Cemetery in Vinton, La. Officiating will be Dr. Rob Tibbetts, pastor of the Crossroads Baptist Church near Vinton.

Born on April 14, 1935 in Beaumont, Texas to his parents, Leon G. Smith and Viola (Seaman) Smith, he moved to Orange at the age of two. He was employed at the DuPont Sabine River Works Plant in Orange. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Era. Jerry was a believer in Jesus Christ and a taper with the Berachah Church in Houston.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George Smith.

Those who will most cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce Smith of Orange; his brothers, Billy Smith and wife, Johnnie of Orange and Johnny Smith of Cookeville, Tenn. Jerry is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
