Man shot in leg near Bridge City

According to a report from Clint Hodgkinson, chief deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call of a shooting in the 3100 block of Timberlake St. near the Bridge City area of Orange County around 3:40 p.m., today.

When Deputies arrived, they found 32 year old Matthew Dourian, of Bridge City, lying in the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound to his thigh. The gunshot victim was conscious and alert, but bleeding from his leg. An ambulance transported the victim to a hospital in Beaumont with what is believed to be a non-life threatening injury.

Jason Clark Calvert, 36, who lives at the residence has been detained and possibly faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Investigators are on scene and are obtaining statements from witnesses. Investigators are also meeting with the gunshot victim at the hospital.

Calvert was arraigned Friday, July 25 by Justice of the Peace David Peck. His bond has been set at $50,000. Calvert remains in custody at the jail.

The cause of the events that led up to the shooting is unknown at this time. The investigation is on-going and more information will be released as it becomes available.
