Reece Lamar Jones, Jr., 82, of Groves passed away Wednesday, July 23, at the Oak Grove Nursing Home in Groves.

Reece was born May 24, 1932 in Huntington to the late Reece and Rose Lee Jones, Sr. and lived in Groves for 57 years. He retired from Texaco Port Arthur as a Plant Inspector with 37 years of service, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Groves. He also served his country in the U.S. Army.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with the Rev. Marty Boddie, and the Rev. Barry Bradley officiating with interment to follow at the Kirbyville Cemetery in Kirbyville under the direction of Melancon’s in Nederland. A gathering of the family and friends will be held from noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at 2:00 on Friday.

Reece was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Earl Jones, and his granddaughter, Lindsey Dutton.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jones of Groves; two daughters, Terry Ferrell and her husband, Mark of Orange, and Lisa Dutton and her husband Jim, of Friendswood; son, Harrell Jones of Sugarland; brother, Joe Jones of Kirbyville; sister, Louise Fussell and her husband, Nay of Kirbyville; four grandchildren, Amber Branecky, Amy Branecky, Jenna Dutton, and Ashley Dutton, and three great-grandchildren, Mason Boullion, Logan Boullion, and Julia Branecky.
