NWS monitoring tropics

Last updated 8/19/2014 at Noon

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is monitoring two areas of disturbed weather in the tropical Atlantic Ocean. Both systems have the potential to reach the Caribbean over the next five days. One of them has a moderate chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

It's still a little too early to predict if a tropical system will be in the Gulf of Mexico next week. But the NWS is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
