Lower electric bills on the horizon

Customers in Entergy Texas’ service territory have good news coming their way.

  • The fixed fuel factor which stays on bills for six months at a time is dropping, beginning with September billing cycles.
  • A fuels-cost refund will take place over Sept and Oct.
  • There will be a very slight decrease in the hurricane recovery cost charge in November.
Altogether, when September and October average 1000 kWh (kilowatt-hours) residential bills are averaged, the decrease is some 12 percent.

While current August bills come in at $121.67, that average bill in September will be $107.95 and in October, $105.48.

Because the fixed fuel factor stays on bills six months at a time, bills will remain at levels not seen in more than a year throughout the fall.
