Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas will host the 2014 “Hiring Red, White and You!” Veterans Job Fair at the Beaumont Civic Center this Thursday, November 13. This year’s event is scheduled from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Sponsored by The Office of the Governor Rick Perry, Workforce Boards throughout the state of Texas will hold the day-long event. The hiring fair is designed to connect Texas veterans and their spouses with Texas employers who value the experience, discipline and other exceptional qualities inherent with a military background. The Texas Workforce Commission reports an estimated 922,000 veterans in Texas are eligible for work. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the unemployment rate for veterans who served in the military post 9/11 is 10 percent.

“Workforce Solutions offers many services to individuals seeking employment, but the ‘Hiring Red, White and You! Veterans Job Fair’ is one that we feel very strongly about,” stated Marilyn Smith, executive director of Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas. “When a veteran returns home from serving our country, too often they struggle to find employment. This job fair is designed specifically to help them make a successful transition back to civilian life and give employers the opportunity to hire individuals with discipline and a strong work ethic.”

To date, 81 businesses, service organizations, training providers and educational institutions are scheduled to attend the Southeast Texas Veterans Job Fair.

Job positions available to job fair participants are varied and include manager trainees, pipe fitters, truck and delivery drivers, registered nurses, paramedics and EMTs, CNC machinists, correctional officers, administrative assistants, laboratory technicians, clinical liaisons, safety supervisors, rehabilitation technicians, store managers, cable installers, design engineers, industrial utility operators, security officers, architects, plumbers, customer service representatives and more.

Workforce Center staff will be on hand to assist employers and job seekers throughout the job fair.

A list of participating business, schools and organizations is available at www.setworks.org.
