Misty LaNell Wood, 39, of Orange, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi.

Born Sept. 13, 1975 in Orange, to Jack and Carolyn Sue (Keen) Wood, she was a lifelong resident of Southeast Texas She worked as an office clerk in the construction industry. Misty was of the Christian faith, she was very upbeat, positive and lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed music, dancing, football. She loved spending time near the water and spending time with her family and friends. Misty was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. Misty’s love and giving spirit has been able to be continued after her passing, in that she was able to donate her organs to help people in need of them.

Misty is preceded in death by her parents; uncle, Bobby Jack Keen and numerous members of her extended family.

Those who will most cherish her memory are her sister, Hazel Halliburton and husband, Doug of Orange; niece, Jacquelyn Carol Nealy and husband, Justin, and their children, Justin DeWayne Nealy and Jackson Logan Nealy; niece, Shaleisa Amber Culpepper and fiancé, David Lopez; her future life partner, Mandy Carrico of Baytown, and her beloved canine child, Dannie. Misty is also survived by numerous members of her extended family.

Services to remember and honor Misty’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, with the Rev. Harold Nazworth, officiating. Rite of committal and interment will follow services, where she will be laid to rest next to her parents at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

A gathering of Misty’s family and friends for a time of reflection will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Honoring Misty as pallbearers are Justin Nealy, Sr., David Lopez, Rusty Bernard, Brendan Allinder, Brian Powell and Crystal Yeates. Honorary pallbearers are Justin DeWayne Nealy, Jr., Jackson Logan Nealy, Christy Allinder, Jerri Padget Cormier, Roy LaDay and John A. Keen.
