First Baptist has always been mission minded, and has been instrumental in planting Second Baptist and Liberty Baptist churches.

They still support local as well as international missions, including a mission for the deaf in Mexico.

First Baptist Church has also operated a preschool since 1958.

While currently without a full time pastor the church continues to minister full time to its members and the community.

Among many of the activities First Baptist makes available for the surrounding community, a few examples are: Breakfast of Champions for the Bridge City Athletes, Real Life for all area youth (over 400 attended this year), hold quarterly blood drives, sponsor area youth winter retreat at Crystal Beach in December and provide meals to Lamar Orange Baptist students.

As well has providing for spiritual needs, First Baptist Church has permitted the Bridge City Chamber Christmas Parade and Toy Drive access to their parking area and church building for the staging of the parade and toy drive.
