Two injured in OC collision

State troopers are investigating a head-on collision that injured two people in Orange County.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the driver of a Chevrolet SUV was traveling south on Highway 62 at about 8:00 p.m. Monday. The driver of a car was traveling west on Walea Road and troopers say that driver failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign. The driver pulled out in front of the Chevrolet. The driver of the Chevrolet swerved to the left to avoid striking the red passenger vehicle. The Chevrolet crossed the center line into the northbound traffic lane and struck a Buick head-on. The driver of the red vehicle didn't stop.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Jerry Covington, Jr., 41, of Bridge City, was taken by ambulance to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. He suffered broken ribs and severe bruises.

The driver of the Buick, William Hunter Fuller, 23, of Orange, was taken to Baptist Orange Hospital. His injuries don't appear to be life threatening.
