Jasper County SO searching for persons of interest

The Jasper County Sheriff's office is searching for two people they consider persons of interest in connection with a homicide investigation.

Jasper County Sheriff, Mitchell Newman says the remains of a body discovered Thursday off County Road 73 in Jasper have been identified as Herbert W. Deaton, 85, of Jasper County. Preliminary autopsy reports show that Deaton's death was caused by homicidal violence.

Deaton's family and friends became concerned when they were unable to contact him after he missed a doctor's appointment. Deaton's silver 2011 Chevrolet truck was not at his residence, but he had been known to go out of town at times.

Authorities have identified two people who are considered persons of interest; They are Robert Kelly Mounts, 48, and his girlfriend Ashley Nicole Lewis, 29. The couple is traveling with their 6 month old daughter. Authorities say the pair have been seen in the victim's truck with the license plate number CZJ6127.

Authorities say they are considered armed and dangerous. Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman is asking the public not to make contact with these people. You are advised to contact your local law enforcement agency immediately with information.
