The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is expecting showers and thunderstorms to start Saturday afternoon, and continue through the overnight hours before tapering off Sunday morning. Rain totals are expected to be one to two inches, with locally four inches possible.

There is a slight (15%) chance of severe storms as well. The timing for strong to severe storms is as follows: Southeast Texas 3:00 pm Saturday – 9:00 pm Saturday, Southwest Louisiana: 6:00 pm Saturday – midnight Sunday, Central Louisiana: 8:00 pm Saturday – 3:00 am Sunday, and South Central Louisiana: 9:00 pm Saturday – 5:00 am Sunday.

The primary severe storm threat will be damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.
