One dead, one injured in shooting

Friday, Dec. 12, at approximately 9:00 pm, officers with the Orange Police Department were dispatched to the 3700 Block of Ridgemont Dr., in reference to a disturbance with possible gunshots being fired.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased Hispanic male with gunshot wounds, in the front yard of the residence and a black male at the residence with gunshot wounds. The black male was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with serious injuries. The deceased male has not been identified at this time.

Early indications in the investigation are that the Hispanic male was one of several subjects that attempted a home invasion style robbery at the address. It is believed the deceased was shot by a subject that stayed in the residence.

This investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time. OPD is being assisted by The Texas Department of Public Safety Ranger’s Division, ATF, Orange CountySheriff’s Office, Vidor Police Department, and West Orange Police Department.
