Thursday, Dec. 18, at 3:40, officers with the Orange Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Simmons Drive and North St., in reference to a major traffic accident.

Upon arrival, officers located a 1999 Ford 4 door, passenger car, with major damage to the passenger’s side of the vehicle. The vehicle was occupied by one female occupant. The other vehicle was a 2008 Dodge pickup with major damage to the front of the vehicle.

The driver of the green Ford was extracted from the vehicle using the jaws of life. The driver was transported to Baptist Hospital Orange where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Dodge was not injured.

It was determined in the investigation that the Ford passenger car made a U-turn, to turn into the Bayou Patio Club, in the 2200 block of Simmons. The Ford turned in front of the Dodge, resulting in the accident.

Judge Price, Justice of Peace 4, was contacted. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
