Velvet Norris Bergeron, 51, of Port Acres, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 25, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

She was born May 15, 1963 in Port Arthur to the late Leroy Norris and Joyce Hebert. She worked as a Beautician, was a caregiver, and worked at St. Catherine School for nine years as a Teacher’s Aide. She was also a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland.

Velvet is survived by her husband, Billy Bergeron of Port Acres; sisters, Amber Ramirez and husband, Roland of Port Arthur and Tammy Barnett of Nederland; brothers, Gary Norris and wife, Hilda of Houston, Ricky Norris and wife, Deanna of Port Arthur and Terry Norris and wife, Donna of Bridge City; daughter, Chloe Rene’ Bergeron of Port Acres; step-son, T-Bill Bergeron and wife, Jamie of Port Acres; step-daughter, Aimy Poche and husband, Jeremy of Port Acres; grandchildren, Landon Roy Poche and Gabriel Bergeron; and faithful companion, dog, Lizzy. She is preceded in death by her parents, and step-father, Toby Harrison.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Monday, Dec. 29, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Kevin Badeaux celebrant. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland Sunday, Dec. 28, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m.
