Edna Belle Broxson, 72, of Kenefick, passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles.

Born March 24, 1942 in Merryville, La., to Wilburn Martin Broxson and Ella Mae (Pollock) Broxson, she lived in Kenefick for the Last six years and had previously lived in Orange. Edna was a homemaker and a member of the Kenefick Baptist Church in Kenefick. Edna was a very kind hearted person who assisted in the raising of many children in addition to her own. She enjoyed shopping, sewing, listening to music and spending time with her family.

Edna is preceded in death by her parents; son, Aaron Lynn McKnight; grandsons, Jeremy Vercher and Jason Vercher and the father of her children, Joe Max McKnight.

Those who will cherish her memory are her daughters, Gladys Ross and husband, Clyde Hedrick of San Leon, and Connie Bankston and husband, Woody of Moss Bluff, La; son, Joe Allen McKinght of Kenefick; sister, Helen Collins of Meridian, Ms; brother, Walter “ Lucky “ Broxson and wife, Mitzy of Indiana; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Graveside services to remember and honor Edna’s life will be at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Day, pastor of the Kenefick Baptist Church.

A gathering of Edna’s family and friends will be from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 Wednesday at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Interment will follow services.
