Weather service calling for rain, possible flooding

Last updated 1/22/2015 at Noon

The National Weather Service is expecting rain to continue through this evening, before tapering off from west to east. A few lingering patches of rain will occur Friday morning before ending by Friday evening. Rain totals will be one to two inches, with locally higher amounts. Some flooding of low-lying areas and urban spots prone to poor drainage will occur.

Strong gusty north winds of 25 to 30 mph is expected through midnight, along and south of the I-10 corridor. This will also end from west to east tonight. Due to the strong winds, tides will run a foot above normal this afternoon and evening, before switching to a foot below normal late tonight.

This weekend will be cool and dry. In fact, a dry pattern is setting up through most of next week, with seasonal temperatures.
