The Lamar men’s basketball game at Sam Houston State will be televised on Root Sports Southwest announced Network officials Tuesday afternoon. The game is still slated for a 6:30 p.m. tip off from the Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum in Huntsville.

Root Sports Southwest is the regional television home of the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets. The Network launched on Nov. 17 and is now available on DirecTV, AT&T U-Verse and Xfinity.

The game will be produced by Jim Barton and Legacy Sports Network. LSN was launched in 2008 and in addition to producing some Southland Conference football games, they have partnered with UIL to produce the Texas High School state championships for all sports except football.

Tom Franklin will handle the play-by-play, while Jim Haller will serve as the color analyst.

In addition to his work with the Houston Oilers, Franklin also served in the play-by-play role for the Houston Cougars from 2004-13. Haller was the head basketball coach at Baylor from 1976-85. He has worked in television for Fox Sports as well as the Southland Television Network.

The Cardinals enter the week with a 10-10 (.500) overall record, and tied for seventh in the Southland with a 4-4 (.500) mark. The Bearkats are 15-5 (.750) overall and second in the league with a 7-1 (.875) mark.

The game against SHSU will be the fifth televised game for the Cardinals this season. Lamar is currently 0-3 in televised games, with an ESPN3 game at Incarnate Word remaining on the schedule.
