The Lutcher Theater invites area residents to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the sensual, articulate and exquisitely musical modern dance works of Pascal Rioult. His contemporary dance company, Rioult Dance NY will perform, Saturday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 PM. Tickets ranging from $30-$45 are available at or by calling 886-5535.

Pascal Rioult was formerly a principal repertory dancer in the Martha Graham Dance Company, for which Ms. Graham created the central role (Death Figure) in her ballet Eye of the Goddess.  Mr. Rioult has performed opposite Mikhail Baryshnikov and Joyce Herring (now his wife) and was featured in two television specials: “Martha Graham in Japan” and “Five Dances by Martha Graham,” filmed at the Paris Opera. Since starting his own company, RIOULT Dance NY in 1994, Mr. Rioult has dedicated his energies to developing his own choreographic style and nurturing a robust ensemble of dancers.

For this Valentine’s Day performance, Mr. Rioult has created a program of beautifully romantic pieces including his interpretation of the passionate Bolero by Ravel.

In addition to treats on stage, Lutcher patrons can expect free Valentine’s Day chocolates as treats before the show, compliments of show sponsor, MCT Credit Union.

For arts supporters looking for even more reason to celebrate, this year’s annual Southeast Texas Arts Council Hearts for the Arts Awards Celebration and silent auction fundraiser will take place along with the Rioult Dance NY event. Hearts for the Arts, now in its eighth year, will once again recognize those in the community who have tirelessly and generously promoted the arts and humanities.

For $65, patrons can enjoy the Hearts for the Arts event with pre-show hors- d’oeuvres and wine, the Rioult Dance NYperformance and post show desserts and coffee.

More information is available at or by calling the Lutcher Box Office at 409-886-5535.
