NWS issues freezing rain advisory for area

The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for most of the region. Here is a list of the counties and parishes in the advisory: In Texas; Hardin, Jasper, Newton, Orange, and Tyler. In southwest, south central, and central Louisiana; Acadia, Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Evangeline, Jeff Davis, Rapides, St. Landry, and Vernon.

Light rain or freezing rain should develop through this afternoon and extend into the evening hours, before tapering off towards daybreak Tuesday. Total ice accumulations will range from 0.01 inch along the I-10 corridor from Beaumont to Lake Charles, to around 0.15 inch in east Texas and central Louisiana.

The main problems with this event will be icy elevated roads and bridges, especially in east Texas and central Louisiana. Major power outages are not expected with this event.
