Richard David Coit Sr., 70, of Orange, died Monday, May 31, 2010, at St. Luke Hospital in Houston. Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, June 3 at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home in Orange.

Born in West Warwick, R.I. on Oct. 10, 1939, Richard was the son of Ernest Coit Sr. and Jeannette (Catalino) Coit. Richard retired from Rhode Island State Prison as a Corrections officer.

Preceded in death by his son, Richard Coit Jr.; Richard is survived by his brothers, Ernest Coit Jr. and wife, Lenore of Rhode Island, George Coit and wife, Pat of Orange; sister, Linda Forcelli and husband, Tony of Rhode Island; and numerous nieces and nephews.
