Suspect arrested for aggravated robbery

Chief Fred R. Hanauer III of the Pinehurst Police Dpt. announced that an arrest has been made for the aggravated robbery that took place on Nov. 7, 2012 at the Dollar General Store, located at 2500 MLK Jr. Dr., in Pinehurst.

Thursday, Dec. 26, Chief Hanauer, along with Lt. Keith Reneau, Pinehurst officers and Precinct 2 Constable David Cagle, served an arrest warrant for aggravated robbery at a residence in the 3800 block of Cochran Street in Orange/ Arrested was Mark Nathan McLelland, a 59 year old white male. McLelland is alleged to have committed the robbery and was recently indicted by an Orange County Grand jury for the crime.

He is currently incarcerated in the Orange County Jail on a $15,000 bond. Aggravated robbery is a first degree felony and is punishable by five to 99 years in prison, and a $10,000 fine.
