Three people were injured Monday morning at about 9:00 am in a head-on collision on FM 1006, near the Dupont Sabine River Works plant in Orange. Shannon Lewandowski, 46, of Orange was traveling north on FM 1006 in a white Ford pickup truck when she crossed the center line in the road and struck a black Chevrolet pickup, driven by Monty Klinkerman, 47, of Huffman.

According to the Department of Public Safety, Lewandowski was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extracted. She was taken by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. As of 2:00 pm, she was in surgery receiving treatment from injuries she received to her lower extremities in the accident.

Klinkerman received a head injury, but the extent of his injuries are unknown at this time. He was transported to St. Elizabeth by ambulance.

A passenger in Klinkerman's truck was Dwayne Moyer of Baytown, who received minor injuries. He was also transported to St. Elizabeth where he was treated and released.

There is an ongoing investigation into what caused Lewandowski to cross the center line of the road. Troopers are hoping to piece together what factors contributed to this crash.
