A woman with ties to the Orange area led Jasper police on a chase from Jasper to Buna before she stopped and was taken into custody. The chase began at about 10:30 this morning when officers responded to a shoplifting call at Walmart, in the 800 block of W. Gibson St. in Jasper. Before officers could get to the store the woman left in a stolen truck.

Officers spotted the woman on Hwy. 190 W. at FM 252, in the stolen 1991 pickup truck that was reported stolen from Atlanta, Tx. Police said the woman is from the Atlanta area, but has family in the Orange area.

Jasper County deputies joined in the chase and were finally able to get the woman stopped on Hwy. 96 at FM 1004 in Buna, where she was taken into custody.

Police said the woman ingested narcotics during the pursuit and she was taken to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment.
