It was the West Orange City Council’s turn to address tax issues at their regular meeting on the evening of August 10.

The council approved authorizing a proposal on an ad valorem tax rate and set the dates for a public hearings and the adoption of the proposal, starting at the next scheduled council meeting on August 24.

The 2015 Effective Tax Rate is .41744 per .45083 value.

The 2015 Rollback Tax Rate is .45083 per $100 value.

The 2015 Debt rate is 0 per $100 value.

Also approved was the 2015 Certified Property Values  and the statement of the 2015 Effective and Rollback Rates as submitted by Orange County Tax Assessor-Collector Lynda Gunstream as the following:

2014 Tax Ceilings: $12,022,808

2014 Taxable Value on new exemptions for 2015: $364,396

2015 Total Market Value: $155,695,199

2015 Total Taxable: $131,435,026

2015 Tax Ceilings: $12,598,917

2015 Market Value of New Improvements: $153,725

2015 Taxable Value of New Improvements (estimate): $129,129

Construction has started for the Smoothie King in the parking lot of Golden Triangle Emergency Center, according to City Manager Mike Stelly.
