NWS expects continuation of stormy weather, tropics become active

Last updated 8/20/2015 at Noon

The National Weather Service is expecting a continuation of the wet, stormy weather pattern through the weekend, before tapering off by the middle of next week. Some places could see an additional one to three inches of rain. There is a small threat for strong to severe storms, mainly for deadly lightning and gusty winds.

In the tropics, Hurricane Danny is moving west across the Atlantic Ocean and will be approaching the eastern Caribbean by Sunday or Monday. Danny will likely weaken next week due to an unfavorable environment. Another tropical system could develop later this weekend or next week in the Atlantic, following a similar path to Danny. A third tropical or subtropical system could develop this weekend near Bermuda. None of these systems pose a risk to our region in the next week.
