Weather service watching Tropical Storm Erika

Last updated 8/25/2015 at Noon

The National Weather Service has been monitoring Tropical Storm Erika, currently located in the Atlantic Ocean. It is not too organized today, due to an unfavorable environment, and that could hinder development in the next day or two. If it holds together, it will reach the eastern Caribbean by Thursday.

Longer range forecasts show Erika turning to the northwest and being a potential problem for the Bahamas this weekend.

An NWS spokesperson said "At this point Erika is not a problem for our region, but as always, we will continue to monitor the situation and update as necessary."
