Weather service keeping an eye on the tropics

Last updated 9/24/2015 at Noon

The National Weather Service is expecting warm temperatures over the next seven days, with low rain chances through Saturday, increasing Sunday through Wednesday, depending on the track and strength of a low pressure area in the Gulf of Mexico.

In the tropics, a weak low pressure area will be in the southern Gulf of Mexico by Monday, and track north through Wednesday. It looks to remain weak and disorganized due to strong wind shear forecast. The National Hurricane Center gives it a 20% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone next week. We will be sending out updates this weekend to keep everyone informed.
