Saturday, Sept. 26, at 9:05 pm, Orange police responded to a call at Dollar General, in the 5700 block of 16th St., Orange. A small child walked into the store alone and was believed to have walked alone from Fox Run Apartments on Allie Payne Rd.

The child told officers he was 8 years old and that he had walked alone from his residence at the apartments. Officers took the boy back to the apartments, where the boy pointed out a door leading police to believe that was the boy's residence.

Police made contact with a man at the door who advised he recognized the child. Officers then made contact with a woman who stated this was the child's mother and that she was not aware the boy had left the residence and that he was believed to be in bed.

Police forwarded a copy of the report to Child Protective Services.
