Orange man arrested for possession of firearm

Monday, Oct. 5, Orange Police were dispatched to 111 Pine Ave., in reference to a man with a gun. Upon arrival, officers met with several citizens who advised that the man, a Hispanic male, identified as John Farias, of Orange, was pointing a firearm at them and threatening to "shoot up their houses."

Officers were told the man was sitting in a truck parked between apartment buildings. The man was discovered sitting in the truck with the lights out. As police approached the truck, theman turned the vehicle around and began to drive South on 1st St. Officer Henry pursued the truck on foot until he could relay the truck's location to other officers, who were then able to join in pursuit.

Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop on Farias and discovered he was a felony in possession of a firearm - Smith & Wesson PK 380. He was taken into custody and transported to the Orange County Jail.
