NWS predicting possible severe storms, coastal flooding over the weekend

Last updated 10/29/2015 at Noon

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is expecting rain to begin late Friday night, and produce two to three inches of rain across the region on Saturday. Rain will be ending from west to east late Saturday into Sunday. There will be a small risk for severe weather, primarily damaging winds and tornadoes on Saturday.

Along the coast, a coastal flood advisory will start Friday afternoon and continue through early Sunday. Minor coastal flooding is expected during high tides during that time frame thanks to strong onshore winds.

In the tropics, there is a low pressure system in the Atlantic Ocean, but it is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone.
