The Texas Department of Transportation has awarded the Pinehurst Police Department with a $3,000 incentive award grant for its participation in this year’s Click it or Ticket campaign.

Throughout the State of Texas, 20 police/sheriff departments were awarded grants with the Pinehurst Police Department being the only law enforcement agency to win in Southeast Texas. TxDOT asked all Texas police and sheriff departments to take part in this year’s Click it or Ticket campaign during the Memorial Day weekend. Departments then kept track of their seatbelt and child safety seat statistics and reported them to TxDOT. The grant recipients were then chosen randomly. Grants can be used toward training or equipment. Pinehurst plans to use its grant toward a new radar gun.
