During the December Board of Trustees meeting for the Little Cypress-Mauriceville School District, three students were recognized for their achievements.

Eighteen Mauriceville Middle School students participated in this year’s Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Patriot's Pen Essay Contest and two of those placed. Kaitlyn Stubbs earned second and Brandon Frisbee placed fourth. They will be recognized by the VFW at an award ceremony later in the school year. Kaitlyn’s second place entry came with a $100 prize and Brandon will receive $50 for his entry.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville junior, Kayne Williams, is the art student whose Christmas card design was selected for the 2015 LCM CISD Christmas card. Students from MMS and LCMHS participated and the winner was chosen in a blind vote by the entire LCM CISD central office staff.
