The New Year looks to get off to a hot start as one of the most commercially popular music artists of the last few years heads to Southwest Louisiana.

Rapper and hip-hop artist Pitbull will perform at 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, inside the Grand Event Center of the Golden Nugget Casino in Lake Charles, La. Tickets are $45-$95 each at all Ticketmaster outlets and go on sale at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23, for ages 21 and older only.

Born by the name Armando Christian Perez, the 34-year-old Miami-native emerged upon the national music scene with the release of his debut album, "M.I.A.M.I." in 2002 and peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Pitbull has released nine albums to date with the most recent record, "Dale," being released July 17 of this year. He is best known for hit songs such as "Time of Our Lives," "Feel this Moment," "Back in Time," "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho), "Krazy" and his number one singles, "Give Me Everything" and "Timber."

In late-October, Pitbull unleashed a new single to radio called "FREE.K," which is to be from his forthcoming album "Climate Change" and will be released in early 2016.
