The City of Orange has temporarily halted the purchase of the First Financial Bank building and the City Hall move, and the hearing scheduled for Feb. 2, in the pending lawsuit against the City of Orange has been moved to March 2.

Plaintiffs Leslie Barras and HOPE have sued the City, the Council and the City Manager in the 260th Judicial District Court in Orange County. The complaint states that the Defendants violated the City Charter by authorizing the relocation of City Hall outside the Old Town Center/Waterfront area designated as the center of city government in Orange’s adopted Land Use Plan.

Plaintiffs have hired David W. Starnes of Beaumont to represent them. Donations to HOPE to support these legal fees are tax-deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law and should be sent to HOPE’s mailing address at P.O. Box 1202, Orange, TX, 77631. All requests that donations be kept confidential will be honored. For more information, contact Ms. Barras at 409-768-0747 or lebarras@gmail.com.
