Bridge City Betty Ruth Gabbard Smith,72, went to be with her Lord on Sept. 5, 2009. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be the Rev. Brad Morgan of St. Paul United Met Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Monday at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. 

Betty was born on Feb. 18, 1937 in Foreman, Ark. to Everett and Idell Gabbard. She married William Elmer Smith on Dec. 23, 1952.

They were blessed with two children.

One son, Bruce Dewayne Smith and wife, Renee of Mauriceville and one daughter, Carolyn Ann Andrus and husband, Thomas of Bridge City; three grandchildren, Jeremy and wife, Holly Smith of Little Cypress, Justin Smith of Mauriceville and Eric and wife, Elysia Andrus of Bridge City; two great-grandchildren, Cooper Smith of Little Cypress and Cyann Sandoval of Bridge City; three brothers, Louis and wife, Caren Gabbard of Pryor, Okla., Leroy and wife, Jackie Gabbard of Miami, Okla., and Tony Gabbard of Branson, Mo.; four sisters, Barbara and husband, WC Stuart of Foreman, Ark., Clara and husband, Ron Betts of Magnolia, Ark., Diane and husband, Wayne Nolen of Foreman, Ark., and Deborah Rogers of Texarkana, Texas.

She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Betty and William established Central Office Supply in Bridge City in 1975; she was also a proud member of the Eastern Star.
