Special to The Record

On Thursday, April 14, from 6-8:00 p.m. Orangefield High School Interact welcomed other Interact clubs in the Region 5 and Rotary District 5910 area for a mixer. Special guests included guest speaker Shilo Herrington from Love Lunch Sack Ministry, Rotary District 5910 incoming assistant Governor George Newsome, as well as other Rotarians.

Positive comments were said about the mixer. According to OHS Interact member Julia Droll, “We collected men’s socks to help a local non-profit organization called Lunch Sacks for Love. It was great to hear the guest speaker, Shilo Herrington, and for the Interact/Rotary groups to come together to help the community." Participants made goody bags that included the collected socks and special positive wishes and messages for homeless men in the area. Pizza, sodas, and cookies were provided by Bridge City-Orangefield Rotary Club for the guests.

Casey Smith, OHS Interact president quoted, “It helped connect us with other Interacts and Rotaract people. Also, the food was excellent!” Overall, it was a great and fun experience. Interacters met new people and learned a few new things.
