Hugh Gibson Jones, age 96 of Orange, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 25.

Hugh was born in Dodson, La., Monday, Sept. 15, 1919 to the late Jane Hutto and Hugh Alson Jones.

He was a resident of Orange, where he lived the majority of his life with his loving wife of 76 years, Evelyn.

Hugh served valiantly in World War II in the United States Army, in which he held the rank of Staff Sergeant, and worked, as a mechanic.

After Hugh stepped down from active duty service, he was hired at what is now known as DuPont, where he worked for 36 years as a mechanic in their maintenance department.

Hugh was a devout Baptist and attended church at the Old First Orange Baptist Church in Orange.

In his spare time, Hugh loved to travel wife his family, fish, and camp.

He could also always be found tinkering on lawn mowers.

Those left to cherish the memory of Hugh are his beloved wife, Evelyn Jones; daughter, Lanelle Pence; grandchildren, Doug Pence, Jr. and Richard Pence; great grandchildren, Miranda Ruffin and husband, Derek, Chelsea Pence, Conner Pence, Catherine Pence, Crystal Rogillio and husband, Trent, Toni McDonald and Mandy Short; great-great grandchildren Cainan Terry, Trent Terry, Darian Pence, Kendin Hampton and Dereka Ruffin and many nieces, nephews and extended family that will miss him dearly.

Services, entrusted to Dorman Funeral Home, to honor the life of Hugh will be held on Saturday, April 30, at 11:00 AM, at Dorman Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, from 5:00–8:00 PM in the chapel at Dorman Funeral Home.
