Orange CVB to host Shootout on the Sabine

The City of Orange Convention & Visitors Bureau is hosting the 3rd annual “Shootout on the Sabine” DSRA Drag Boat Races event. The event will be held Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the City of Orange Boat Ramp.

This event will include 50 to 60 racers from Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Depending on the classification, speeds of more than 100 mph are possible and are sure to entertain those of all ages. Food and drink vendors will be on site serving BBQ, hamburgers, kabobs, seafood, pistolettes, links, cheese sticks, gumbo, desserts, ice cream and much more. Craft vendors will also be on site. There will be a children’s activity area, which will include bounce houses, rock climbing, remote control boat races and Kingdom Zoo.

There will also be live entertainment by American Idol finalist Kree Harrison, a native of Orange County, at the Riverfront Pavilion, which is scheduled Saturday, May 21 at 7 p.m. The concert is sponsored by Cecil Atkission Motors. Please bring your chairs and coolers for the concert only.

Both events are free to the public and please no dogs, no pets and no coolers allowed at the City Boat Ramp. “The purpose of the Shootout on the Sabine event is intended to promote tourism and hotel stays. We are excited to bring the community together with family friendly fun for all ages,” says Brandy Judice, CVB Coordinator.
