Fuel Refund, Credits to Drop Entergy Texas Bills by $9.30 Through Hot Summer Months

With temperatures on the rise in Southeast Texas, there’s good news ahead for Entergy customers. Average residential electric bills will drop below $100 per month when fuel-related refunds and credits begin showing up on bills in July. The lower rates will remain on bills through October.

The average 1,000 kilowatt-hour bill currently costs customers a little more than $108. But once the lower bills begin, they will drop to $98.76, a decrease of more than 8 percent. Altogether, the company will send some $68 million back to customers from July through October.

“Our fuel costs have remained low and that means we are able to pass the savings along in the form of a refund to our customers,” said Sallie Rainer, Entergy Texas president and chief executive officer. “This can be especially important at this time of year when hot weather often signals higher energy bills.”

Entergy Texas, Inc. delivers electricity to more than 430,000 customers in 27 counties. It is a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation. Entergy is an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations. Entergy owns and operates power plants with approximately 30,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity, including nearly 10,000 megawatts of nuclear power. Entergy delivers electricity to 2.8 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
