Grand Jury indicts Broussard for deaths of two
The Orange County Grand Jury has indicted 54 year old Carl Jacob Broussard, on two cases of failure to stop and render aid. These cases are alleged to have occurred on Nov. 2, 2015, on MacArthur Dr. in Orange.
Ava Lewis and her daughter, Lamya Newhouse were killed in the accident and Mr. Broussard is charged with leaving the scene. After Broussard struck the two, he said in an affidavit that he “heard a thump, pulled into a private parking lot and then drove off.”
Bond has been set at $100,000 on each case. Each case is a second degree felony, punishable by two to 20 years in prison and a fine of $10,000.
The cases has not yet been assigned to a District Court.
