The Cardinals play host to six opponents at Provost Umphrey Stadium in 2016, a schedule that is arguably one of the toughest in the nation. The Red and White will open the season against Coastal Carolina who is making the jump to the FBS level, but spent a majority of 2015 ranked among the FCS top five. LU follows that up with a trip to Houston which is coming off one of its best seasons in program history before returning home to host national semifinalist and preseason top 10 Sam Houston State (Sept. 17). The Cardinals also have home dates against Southland foes Southeastern Louisiana (Oct. 1), Northwestern State (Oct. 15), Houston Baptist (Oct. 29 – Homecoming) and Incarnate Word (Nov. 12).

The Cardinals officially report back for the start of camp Wednesday, and hit the field for their first official workout Thursday evening. LU returns 14 starters from last season including reigning Southland Player of the Year, Kade Harrington.
