UPDATE - Pinehurst PD seeking clues on robbery, stolen dog

"Petey", a seven year old black and white chihuahua is a senior citizen's companion dog that was stolen from The Bark Park sometime between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. "Petey" weighs a little over five pounds. If you have any information on "Petey's" whereabouts, please call or text, 713-498-7353, or 409-899-9386.

UPDATE from Chief Fred R. Hanauer III, Chief of Police, Pinehurst Police Department- It is with deep regret that I report that Petey, the Chihuahua believed to be taken from a dog grooming and boarding service in Pinehurst, has been found deceased. He was located earlier in the day by Pinehurst Street workers on Strickland Drive after being struck by a vehicle. He was located within 100 yards of the business where he was last seen. The burglary remains under investigation and anyone with information about the crime are urged to contact the Pinehurst Police Department at 409-886-2221.

The Pinehurst Police Department is seeking the public's help in solving a burglary at The Bark Park grooming and boarding facility at 1712 Strickland Dr., in Pinehurst.

PREVIOUS REPORT - During the hours of 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. and 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 18, an unknown person or persons entered the business through the back door and removed a 7 year old black and white male Chihuahua named “Petey”, who was being boarded at that location.

Anyone with information as to who may have entered the business and removed this beloved pet are urged to contact the Pinehurst Police Department at 409-886-2221. If you locate a male Chihuahua matching Petey’s description please contact The Bark Park at 409-886-7000.

We would love to reunite Petey with his family.
