James Eugene “Jimmy” Johnson, Jr., 59, of Orangefield, passed away Sunday, May 29, at his residence. A memorial service to honor his life will be at 10 a.m. On Saturday, June 11, at The American Legion, Lloyd Grubbs Post 49, 108 Green Avenue in Orange. A benefit will follow the memorial service to assist the family.

Jimmy was born on Feb. 28, 1952 in Orange, to his parents, James Eugene Johnson Sr. and Patsy Jean (Granger) Johnson. He was a lifelong resident of the Orange area and he worked as a ship fitter and welder for Vessel Repair in Port Arthur. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the American Legion, Lloyd Grubbs Post 49 in Orange. Jimmy was of the Christian faith, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed going fishing and attending air shows.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his little brother, Danny Lee Johnson.

Those who will cherish his memory most are his wife, Ila Johnson of Orangefield; his daughters, Lacie Denise Johnson and Sherie Marie Barker both of Orange; his son, James Edward Johnson and wife, Kinkkie of Orange; his parents, James and Patsy Johnson of Orange; his sister, Jeannie Louise Johnson of Bridge City; his brother, Paul Adam Johnson and wife, Janet of Orangefield; his grandchildren, Kylah Barker and Gracie Brandon and numerous extended family.

Arrangements are with Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.
