Anh Thu Do of Liberty is the 2010 winner of the Art of Conservation Stamp Award in the 12th annual Wildlife Forever State-Fish Art Contest, it was announced Saturday at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens, site of this year’s contest expo.

A 24-year-old man, identified as  Fausto Cardenas, fired several shots on the south steps of the Capitol, yesterday, with a small-caliber handgun. No one was injured in the incident that occured about 12:15 p.m.

Texans remain negative about the national economy and their personal economic situation, and still are not strongly engaged in the run-up to the 2010 statewide election, according to a statewide survey released today.

The poll, conducted by members of the Department of Government and the Texas Politics project at The University of Texas at Austin, surveyed 800 Texas residents between Feb. 24 and March 6.
