Do you like to travel? I really have enjoyed visiting various places throughout our country and even overseas. But, did you know there is a difference between traveling and touring. According to Daniel Boorstein in his book, The Lost Art of Travel, things have changed significantly over the last number of decades. Years ago when you planned a trip, you really had to do a lot of planning. If you were going out of the U.S., you were likely getting on a ship and it would take a week to get there. You had to carry lots of stuff and spend more than a weekend.

A man saw a dead fly lying on the window sill. Suddenly, he began to think about how the fly represents so much of life as it is lived... not by flies, but by humans. Here are a few of the thoughts that filled his mind as he stared at the dead fly.

Tara Moore and Peggy Richard joined Dr. Cornel West at Borders book store in Houston, for the book signing of his new memoir “BROTHER WEST: Living and Loving Out Loud”
|
One of America’s most provocative public intellectuals, Cornel West has been a champion for racial justice since childhood. His writing, speaking, and teaching weave together the traditions of the black Baptist Church, progressive politics, and jazz. The New York Times has praised his “ferocious moral vision.”

In your mind's eye I want you
to picture Jesus at the Feeding of the
Five Thousand. Hungry
multitudes cover the hillside. Jesus takes the
little boy's lunch,
lifts it up, and says the familiar prayer: "Bless
this food to the
nourishing and strengthening of our bodies. Amen." I'm
here to tell
you that it just didn't happen like that. No way!

As the tall, stately angel rose

He cleared his throat.

A few weeks ago, I heard a story about a young woman who went to dinner with a few friends. She and her friends had a wonderful dinner and the service was excellent. At the end of the evening, she told her friends that she would pay the bill. She quickly gave the waiter her credit card and signed it when she returned. She liked the service so much she gave a generous tip of $25.00. How much? Forgetting to use the decimals and accidentally adding a zero, she gave the waiter a $25,000 tip. Due to the fact that the credit card was her father’s and he was a corporate executive with plenty of credit, the amount cleared and the waiter was cut a check. Days later when the error was realized, the question was asked, “Should the waiter return the tip?”
